If the session is held in Bridge Street or on Zoom, let the Office know – by email or phone.
If the session is held in an external venue please let the tutor or course secretary know. Note that if you miss a class three times without having registered your absence in advance, you may lose your place.

You will be sent an email containing a link to the Zoom session. You will need to download the Zoom app before you can join the class – often it downloads automatically when you click on the link in the email, but you may be directed to the Zoom Download Centre – it will depend on the device you are using.

When you are ready to join the class, click on the link in the email. You will be asked to activate your camera and microphone.

For data protection reasons, the tutor’s personal details are not printed in the Programme. Instead, they are available to members who log in to the website.

Do not attend a class if you are at all unwell. Many of our members are vulnerable to infections. We need to do all we can to prevent the spread of infection. Remember to tell the tutor or the Office if you will not be attending a session.

No, as long as you inform the tutor or the Office that you will be away.
However, if you will be away for a long time it might be better to withdraw from the course so that someone else can be offered your place.

If you are not able to attend a course, or if you find it does not meet your needs, let the Office know as soon as possible so your place can be offered to someone on the waiting list.

Log in to the website in the usual way and go to the course description page. The link to the course handouts is below the course description.

Each member has a unique username which they use to log in to the website. This is sent out to you when you first join U3AC.

Your username is usually your first name and your last name, separated by a dot. However, if there is another member with the same first and last names as you, your username will be slightly different.

1. Click the Login icon at the top right of the screen.
2. Type in your username and password. If you need to set up a password, or have forgotten your password, click the ‘Forgotten password?’ button to create or reset it.
3. Click the Log In button.

In July, when you select your courses for the coming year, you can apply for a maximum of 6 courses.

In September you will be sent a list of the courses on which you have a place.

You can apply for further courses after the beginning of the Autumn Term, as long as there is a vacancy.

Yes! Look at the list of courses with vacancies on this website. Contact the Office if you would like to join one.

Members who have applied for the course and have not been allocated a place are added to the waiting list. When a place becomes available (because a member has dropped out), the place will be offered to the person at the top of the list.

Each year’s allocation of courses is distinct and we cannot give priority to a particular member. Some courses are very popular or only have space for a few participants – these courses are naturally harder to get onto.

Most of our tutors are volunteers, and there is bound to be some variation in quality. We offer our tutors training in running courses for adults. If a large proportion of members are dissatisfied with the quality of a course, we will offer the tutor support in addressing issues raised.

All our classrooms are fully booked. We will discuss with the tutor whether a different room would be better next year.

Your annual subscription covers our central administration costs, and provision of the room and audio-visual equipment. Some classes have special additional needs – equipment, art materials, admission charges, etc. These additional costs will be clearly laid out in the course description.
