We are a group of people who are interested in geology and the earth sciences and who want to learn more about these subjects. The group meets monthly. We invite some outside speakers, but members also volunteer to lead sessions on topics that particularly interest them. In addition we organise occasional field trips. People who are new to the subject are welcome, but it is not a course, so some rudimentary knowledge of geology will be helpful. Two very useful, easy to read and low cost books are: 'Geology' by J. Zalaiewicz in the OUP Very Short Introduction series and 'Geology' by D A Rothery in the Teach Yourself series. PLEASE NOTE: Group members will need access to the internet.
